Warden DECA Takes 1st–3rd Place in Community Service Projects

A HUGE congratulations to our Warden DECA Chapter for their outstanding accomplishment of earning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for their Community Service Project submissions and being named winner of the Washington DECA Community Service Challenge. This week, we’re also cheering on members, Olivia, Viri, and Cindy, who are heading to the State Career Development Conference in Bellevue on February 26-28.
With their community service projects, our students continue to prove that DECA is about leadership, service, and impact. We are incredibly proud of the work our members have done to support Warden and build meaningful opportunities for others. Each of these projects reflects student leadership, planning, and a heart for community:
- Thanksgiving Community Meal Drive: Students organized donations, partnered with local businesses, and helped provide full Thanksgiving meals to families in our community. From budgeting and marketing to distribution logistics, DECA members led every step while ensuring families felt supported during the holiday season.
- Christmas Giving Tree: The Giving Tree project connected students, staff, and community members to families in need during the winter holidays. DECA members coordinated wish lists, created ornaments, managed gift collection, and helped make the season brighter for local children and families.
- Summit Room Coffee: This student-run coffee experience builds real-world business skills while serving our school community. Members manage marketing, budgeting, customer service, and daily operations, turning a simple cup of coffee into hands-on entrepreneurship and leadership development.
- Elementary STEM Fair: DECA students partnered with high school STEM leaders to host a bilingual, hands-on learning experience for elementary students. Stations were designed to spark curiosity, build STEM identity, and allow younger learners to see older students as role models in science and math.
- College and Career STEM Fair: Students coordinated outreach to colleges, careers, and industry partners to create an event focused on future pathways. The fair gave students direct access to information about STEM careers, college programs, and real-world opportunities while strengthening community partnerships.
- Financial Literacy Week: DECA members helped organize guest speakers, interactive challenges, and real-world learning experiences focused on budgeting, credit, saving, and investing. Students across grade levels engaged in activities that made money management practical, relevant, and empowering for their future.
We are proud to celebrate our students earning 1st–3rd place recognition for these community-minded projects. As part of this recognition, the chapter was awarded $250 to be used for future community service projects. Their leadership continues to make a lasting impact on Warden and beyond.
